Michael Wilmot Obituary, Death – The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified Michael Wilmot, a 50-year-old ride-share driver, as the victim in a suspected road rage incident on the Las Vegas Strip earlier this week. Wilmot was fatally shot in the torso, and his death has been classified as a homicide.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the incident occurred on Monday when Wilmot was driving for Uber with two passengers. A road rage confrontation unfolded between Wilmot and the driver of another vehicle near the Palazzo Hotel at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue.
Lieutenant Jason Johansson of LVMPD provided details of the altercation. Both vehicles came to a stop, and Wilmot exited his car, approaching the other driver’s vehicle. He banged on the driver’s side door, prompting the driver, a woman in her 20s, to shoot him. After being shot, Wilmot attempted to produce a firearm but collapsed shortly thereafter.
The female driver fled the scene but was later located and questioned by police. However, she has not been arrested. The LVMPD stated that the case has been forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney’s office for further review, and no additional information about the investigation has been disclosed.
Uber confirmed that it maintains a strict no-firearms policy for its drivers and expressed its willingness to assist law enforcement as needed during the ongoing investigation.
The tragic incident highlights the dangers of road rage and its potential to escalate into violence, particularly in high-traffic and densely populated areas like the Las Vegas Strip. As authorities continue to investigate, the legal implications for the involved parties remain under review.
