Nathan Jenkins Obituary, Death – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is actively conducting an inquiry into an officer-involved shooting that occurred late last night in Cobb County. The event transpired at approximately 11:30 p.m. at a Walgreens located at 2670 Cobb Parkway SE, where Cobb County police confronted a suspect who was wanted on undisclosed charges, as reported by the Cobb County Police Department.
Police reports indicate that officers found the suspect within the store. The individual, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by authorities, was allegedly armed with a firearm. During the confrontation, police shot the suspect, who was subsequently taken to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
A family member has identified the deceased as Nathan Jenkins. A woman who was on a video call with Jenkins during the incident claimed that he had his hands raised and was repeatedly informing the officers of this fact. However, she stated that the officers perceived what they thought was a weapon, resulting in Jenkins being shot multiple times.
“‘My hands are up, my hands are up.’ I guess, you know, like when you raise your arms, your shirt raises a little, they saw it and they yelled, ‘Gun, gun, gun,’ and they shot him multiple times,” the woman recounted.
Another witness described Jenkins as a person who radiated positivity and was known for his cheerful demeanor. “He was all smiles, everywhere he went. He never cut corners with anybody,” his brother remarked.
The GBI is now overseeing the investigation into the events leading up to the shooting. Currently, no additional information has been made available, and law enforcement has not officially confirmed the identity of the suspect.
