Neal Poling Obituary, Death – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported that a tragic accident occurred on Monday involving a semi-truck and resulting in the death of one individual on US 27. Deputies were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of US 27 and County Road 400 N, just south of Decatur, shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
Upon initial examination of the area, it was determined that a Chevy Camaro, operated by 68-year-old Neal Poling from Decatur, was heading eastbound on 400 N. Regrettably, Poling failed to yield to a semi-truck driven by 70-year-old Mark Roser from North Manchester as he approached the intersection. This led to a collision between the two vehicles.
An eyewitness present at the scene confirmed that the semi-truck had the right of way on US 27. Tragically, Poling was pronounced dead at the scene and his family was informed by the sheriff’s office.
Roser cooperated with authorities and underwent a chemical test at a nearby hospital, with no indication of alcohol involvement in the accident. Fortunately, Roser did not sustain any injuries in the collision.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing at this time.
