Pablo A. De Jesus, Joseph J. Orduno Obituary, Death – Late Tuesday night, a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 15 south of Barstow claimed the lives of two men. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 20-year-old Pablo A. De Jesus of Victorville and 36-year-old Joseph J. Orduno of Apple Valley.
The incident took place at approximately 11:20 p.m. on the northbound lanes of I-15, just south of Hodge Road. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), De Jesus was behind the wheel of a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox when the crash occurred.
Authorities have not yet determined the speed at which the vehicle was traveling. However, initial findings suggest that De Jesus lost control, causing the SUV to veer off the road. The vehicle then struck a combination of metal and wood guardrails, which failed to stop its momentum. The impact sent the SUV into multiple rolls before it collided with a metal pole supporting freeway signage.
Both De Jesus and Orduno suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. CHP officers arrived shortly after to secure the area and launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under review, with authorities considering multiple factors, including road conditions, possible mechanical failures, and whether impairment or distraction played a role. The CHP has not released any further details about what may have led to the fatal incident.
Interstate 15, a major highway connecting Southern California to Las Vegas, sees heavy traffic daily, with drivers often exceeding speed limits. While the specific cause of this crash has yet to be determined, rollover accidents are known to be particularly dangerous due to the increased risk of fatal injuries. SUVs, like the Chevrolet Equinox involved in this crash, have a higher center of gravity, making them more prone to rolling over in high-speed or sudden maneuvering situations.
As the investigation continues, authorities may release additional information regarding potential contributing factors. Officials urge drivers to exercise caution while traveling on highways, especially late at night when visibility is lower and reaction times may be slower.
This tragic accident highlights the dangers of rollover crashes and the importance of safe driving practices. The CHP encourages anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
