Patrick King Obituary, Death – A California man has been charged with murder following the discovery of an Illinois man’s body in a Plano backyard late Tuesday afternoon, according to police. The incident unfolded when the Plano police and fire departments were called to the 4600 block of Bending Oak Trail around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The call came from a resident who reported finding a deceased man in the backyard.
The victim has been identified as 69-year-old Patrick King from Elburn, Illinois. The Plano police quickly identified a suspect in King’s death and tracked him to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport early Wednesday morning. Andrew James Swetland, a 39-year-old from California, was arrested at approximately 5:30 a.m. Police have not yet confirmed if Swetland was scheduled to board a flight or if he was attempting to leave the area.
According to the police, Swetland and King were acquainted, and the murder was not a random act of violence. Plano police confirmed to NBC 5 that Swetland is the brother-in-law of the homeowner, and King was visiting the residence.
Swetland faces a murder charge and is awaiting arraignment. As of Wednesday morning, it is unclear whether he has secured legal representation. The investigation into King’s death is still ongoing.
