Ramiro Ezequiel Garcia Obituary, Death – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash believed to have been caused by a road rage incident. The collision occurred Wednesday at the intersection of West Mile 3 Road and North Bentsen Palm Drive, just north of Palmview. According to DPS, the incident began when a man on a Honda CVR motorcycle was being pursued at high speed by a 2015 Buick Regal. The driver of the Buick, later identified as 30-year-old Ramiro Ezequiel Garcia of Mission, was reportedly weaving recklessly through traffic as he chased the motorcyclist.
The chase ended tragically when the Buick approached the intersection and collided with a white Chevrolet Silverado stopped at a red light. The impact caused the Silverado to be pushed into a gray Ford Fiesta, which was also stationary at the light.
The crash resulted in injuries for several people. A passenger in the Silverado was transported to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance, where she received treatment and was later discharged. Garcia, the driver of the Buick, was also taken to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance and subsequently transferred to McAllen Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, Garcia succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The motorcyclist, who gave a statement to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, revealed that the pursuit was sparked by an argument between him and Garcia. Details of the altercation leading to the high-speed chase remain unclear, but authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
DPS has stated that a blood warrant was issued for Garcia as part of the investigation. Authorities suspect he may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, which could have contributed to the reckless behavior and tragic outcome.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of road rage and impaired driving, emphasizing the dangers of escalating conflicts on the road. The DPS investigation aims to piece together the events leading up to the crash to provide clarity and ensure accountability.
As the investigation progresses, officials urge drivers to remain calm and avoid confrontations while driving, as such incidents can quickly escalate into life-threatening situations.
