Roy Hallak Obituary, Death – Early Saturday morning, a tragic accident occurred on southbound Interstate 95 near Hollywood Boulevard, where a stranded driver was struck and killed by a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist is currently in intensive care, according to officials.
The incident took place around 3 a.m. when a 44-year-old man found himself stranded in the center lane of I-95 due to a previous crash. As he attempted to cross from the center lane to the shoulder, he was struck by a motorcycle.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man, was unable to avoid the collision. The impact caused him to lose control of his motorcycle, spinning counterclockwise before being thrown into the air and suffering a severe head injury.
The motorcyclist was swiftly transported to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit. Meanwhile, the stranded driver, identified as Roy Hallak, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Roy Hallak was known for his long tenure at Chase Bank, where he worked for 22 years, and for his recent venture as the owner of a mobile car wash. He was also fondly remembered by many as “Coach Roy” due to his involvement in coaching youth basketball. According to a GoFundMe page set up in his honor, he leaves behind a wife and two children. The page has already raised over $78,000 to support his family.
The FHP has not yet confirmed whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet or if any charges will be filed. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
