Sonia Coronado Obituary, Death – Authorities in South Carolina are investigating the death of a Georgia woman who was hit by a vehicle early Friday morning near Riverside High School in Greer.
According to Greer Police Department Lt. Chris Forrester, 35-year-old Sonia Coronado of Gainesville, Georgia, was struck by a silver KIA Sorento near the intersection of Hammet Bridge Road and East Suber Road. The incident occurred around 3:44 a.m. as the vehicle was traveling along Hammet Bridge Road in front of the high school.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office pronounced Coronado dead at 3:52 a.m. An autopsy determined that she died from blunt force trauma to the head and torso.
Authorities have not publicly identified the driver of the KIA Sorento. The coroner’s office ruled Coronado’s death as an accident, but law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
