Steve Gonzalez Obituary, Death – Austin police have identified both the victim and the suspect involved in the homicide that occurred on Sunday in southeast Austin. The incident took place on September 8 around 5:55 p.m. in the 2500 block of Teri Road. According to police, the altercation began when 26-year-old Martin Tovar shot and killed 25-year-old Steve Gonzalez. The two men had been engaged in a dice game when a dispute escalated. Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:34 p.m.
Following the shooting, Tovar reportedly fled the area. Homicide detectives, after interviewing witnesses, identified Tovar as a suspect and subsequently arrested him. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
