Tanysha Thomas Obituary, Death – A woman has tragically lost her life following a serious accident in Batavia on Saturday evening. At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received a notification regarding downed power lines on Creek Road, close to the city of Batavia. Responding to the scene, the Batavia Fire Department and Batavia Police Department discovered a power pole obstructing the roadway and an overturned vehicle engulfed in flames, situated down an embankment in the wooded area to the east of Creek Road, according to police reports.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and located the driver, identified as 24-year-old Tanysha Thomas from Caledonia, within the vehicle. She was subsequently transported to United Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
Authorities confirmed that there were no other passengers in the vehicle. According to police, Thomas was driving north on Creek Road when she lost control while making a turn, colliding with a telephone pole and a tree before rolling down the embankment and coming to rest on its roof.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
