Tristen Shrouder, Gerald Lyons Obituary, Death – A tragic rollover crash over the weekend claimed the lives of two Central Hardin High School juniors, leaving their school and community in mourning. Hardin County Schools confirmed the deaths of Tristen Shrouder and Gerald Lyons, both of whom had promising futures ahead of them.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning, just before 2:30 a.m., on St. John Road. Shrouder was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lyons was airlifted to UofL Hospital in Louisville, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In a heartfelt statement on Facebook, Hardin County Schools expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “They both had the promise of bright futures, and both were incredible young men. We all share in the pain and the sense of tragic loss that these families have,” the district wrote. “Losing anyone is horrific, but the loss of two young lives cuts us to our core.”
As students and staff are currently on spring break, Central Hardin High School is offering support to those affected by the tragedy. Principal Tim Isaacs announced that a crisis response team will provide counseling in the school’s library media center from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday.
“The HCS family is strong! I encourage us all to surround CHHS, the families of these young men, and their friends with sympathy, compassion, and understanding,” Isaacs stated.
In addition to the two fatalities, two other juveniles who were in the back seat of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. Authorities have not released further details on the cause of the crash.
The sudden loss of Shrouder and Lyons has deeply impacted their peers, teachers, and the broader community. As friends and family gather to grieve, the school district is focused on providing emotional support and resources for those struggling with the tragedy.
