Warren Eugene Wood Obituary, Death – A resident of Elmer, driving a dump truck, tragically lost his life on Wednesday afternoon near DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish, as reported by the Louisiana State Police. Warren Eugene Wood, aged 59, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which Troop D attended around 3 p.m., according to a news release.
Wood was operating a 1996 Peterbilt truck traveling westbound on La. Highway 12, approximately one mile west of DeQuincy, when he veered off the roadway. In an attempt to correct his course, Wood oversteered, causing the vehicle to cross onto the left side of the road. The truck subsequently overturned onto its left side and slid into a tree line, colliding with multiple trees before igniting, as detailed in the release.
The report indicated that, due to the crash’s severity, it remains unclear whether Wood was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
