Woodrow Kelly Obituary, Death – A tragic accident on Interstate 85 in Davidson County claimed the life of an 85-year-old man and left a 73-year-old woman seriously injured, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. on Monday when a silver Toyota traveling northbound veered off the side of the highway and into the median. Authorities said the vehicle continued moving through the median before crashing into a concrete bridge and coming to rest in an embankment.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the driver, a 73-year-old woman, with severe injuries. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The passenger, identified as Woodrow Kelly, 85, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine what led to the vehicle leaving the roadway. No further details have been released at this time.
